The situation is getting worse every day.
Wisconsin, where I live, is going to be the next state to shut down. The governor a few days ago said he would not do such a thing but the virus is spreading so fast that today he is ordering the shutdown. I am not sure if I will be going to work or not after that.
The map I check every day has evolved over the last week, I guess they are changing the way data is reported. Now individual counties in the US are shown. Yesterday it was just individual states.
The scary thing about the cases in the county that I live, they come from hospital employees, or doctors. This means COVID-19 is in the hospitals, has already spread FROM them, to who knows how many people. They have since disallowed visitors from entering, the damage is already done though.
This is going to change the entire world forever.

Saturday 3/21/20
Today I checked the map, there are reported est. 278,000 active cases of COVID-19, the US is exponentially becoming infected daily and I think within days we will pass Italy and China with the most active cases in the world.
I have not seen my daughter in days, something that I don't like at all. It's not because of quarantine it's just easier for everyone right now that she stays with other family members, helping out with her cousins and such. Still sucks.
Our town alone has three confirmed cases in the span of two days. In hospitals, these were people that worked in them, so who knows when they got infected and by who. That is the scary thing about this virus is that it can survive on surfaces for days, easily transmittable and it is deadly in some cases. It's not just old people, there is this common misconception that because of your age you are either sparred or not. Not the case, in fact it hospitalizes most young people and has killed them too. The ones that recovered went through hell.
It's only a matter of time before the entire country is fucked and under martial law.
From a virus.

A bit of COVID-19 data
![]() |
| Source : Wikipedia |
This is why it is scary...
Every single day there are more cases. A LOT of cases. In one week the United States has become infected, every state now is infected. With the incubation period it could be a lot worse than it actually seems, these are just active cases.
I started to track the spread using this website :
https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6
I also take data from this GitHub repo :
https://github.com/CSSEGISandData/COVID-19
Then convert the cvs data to geojson using an online service, to use for my own use on CesiumJS, a 3D globe system that I've been using for some time to tinker with.
Not that I do anything with the data I just observe. Nothing I can do but watch as it spread across China, to Europe and now the Americas.
Strange times ahead

This blog is my own outlook on the new life this world is in, the COVID-19 pandemic. It was hard trying to find a URL that nobody has used already related to this outbreak but regardless...
San Fransisco has shut down, the entire city is shut down, seven counties and nobody is allowed to do anything. It's almost a martial law but not?
Here in the Midwest things have not gotten that bad. Stores close at 10 PM to restock and clean. Bars are still open, at least where I live, for now. Not that I drink at bars much that time in my life has passed but whatever.
I have been tracking this virus since it started in China, when it just started to infect, I tend to try to keep up on infectious diseases in the world. Aside from my own interests since I was younger, I find virus and bacteria interesting, in the event of something in life going exactly how it's going I can at least try to prepare. This virus scares me. Ebola did not scare me as much, that virus is what started my interest in microscopic death bringers. COVID-19 is scary.
Not because of the death, it's the infection. It seems to be easy to get and easy to spread. It is not a pleasant experience either.
It seems to be only a matter of time before we are all infected and that is what scares me and everyone else. People have been panic buying. It will only get worse. I imagine my own employment eventually shutting down.
So in the meantime I try to code, try to do art, go to work and keep the house clean.
I just read that insurance companies are going to essentially screw us.
Waived TESTING, not treatment.
So that's cool...
